Tradwinds workshops

Next weekend sees the last of a series of 3 monthly Saturday workshops I have been running over the Autumn. Looking at a mixture of tunes from the Hebrides and some very local ones, I have just added the resources to my Dropbox for participants to look at in advance.

From a teaching perspective, the small groups have been perfect for a return to flute teaching after almost 4 years and it has been great to welcome new faces and some good friends too. Thanks too, to The Fisherrow Community Centre for their hospitality. I’m already looking at dates for January to March.

FluteFling resources

Elsewhere, I have begun the major task of reorganising almost 200 tune recordings and music in ABC and PDF format for the FluteFling website. These represent over 10 years of teaching material and accompanying blogging that was originally organised by teaching block and year. It was a system that worked well at the time — current material was always at the top.

As part of a reboot of FluteFling activities however, it constitutes a scattered archive that needs consolidating to be made useful again. It is clear that many people don’t realise it is there at all. In tandem with this is a reorganisation of my Soundcloud, where all of my teaching recordings require a similar reshuffle.

It is likely to take some months to complete. When complete, the entire resource will be freely available to all, published under a Creative Commons licence.
